Hampton Estates Wall Settlement
- 2 minutes read - 225 wordsUpdate for Hampton Estates Wall Settlement & Ellingsworth:
A settlement for the repair of the Hampton Estates collapsed brick wall along Greythorne Loop has been approved and the agreement signed by the BOD.
This agreement with Meritage directs that their sub contractor, Ovida, will restore 90% of the wall to include sections that did not fall two years ago. The end-state will be a contiguous brick wall running along lots 14-19. It is intended to reuse the existing footers. Sections of the wall in Lots 18 & 19 will not be reworked as Meritage maintains those sections had more recent repairs and do not need to be replaced. A repair for drainage in the Ellingsworth subdivision is included with this settlement. A one year warranty is what the settlement provides.
This is the best settlement we can come up with after months of work between the BOD, our construction legal counsel, and Meritage. The BOD was advised that outside of this settlement, it would require legal action to take another approach.
The settlement and its attachments are uploaded to the website for reference.
It is the current BOD’s intent to have a 3rd party oversee the construction of the wall to insure it is built to standards. This will be work for the new BOD after the 17 September election.
